What customers are saying:
Many customers love the signature matchstick style and flattering cut of these jeans, noting that the design works well for both casual and dressier occasions. Many are excited by the contemporary details, like the well-proportioned rise and versatile dark washes. However, a significant number suggested improving the fabric quality by using a heavier, traditional denim rather than the current overly stretchy, thin material that sometimes fades or shows wear too quickly. Overall, customers are enthusiastic about the style and fit and recommend a fabric update to bring back the durable, classic feel of earlier designs.

Too Stretchy
May 2, 2017I used own a pair of the original matchstick style jeans and I loved them, literally to death. I wore them until the seams split. When you brought them back I was thrilled - until I bought a pair. They have way too much elasticity to them. I don't want a pair of leggings, I want jeans that fit my body type, just like my original pair.

These are not the Matchstick.
April 9, 2017I no longer know where to turn for jeans. For years (maybe even more than a decade), I could count on Matchstick jeans for a relaxed fit, timeless cut, minimal stretch, and a classic wash. The Matchstick accommodated my legs rather than sculpting or suffocating them with stretch. I kept buying these jeans even though with each pair the holes in the crotch appeared sooner (4 years, 2 years, 1 1/2 years). They were denim that would break in with wear - so actual denim, not stretch pants. But I returned my latest bulk purchase. Beware: the Matchstick jeans are now sausage casing for your legs. The online description fails to mention they have gone from 1% stretch to 3%, and it feels like more. As others have posted, the Matchstick are jeggings. Please bring back denim.

Perfect Jeans
March 26, 2017I love the Matchstick jeans, however, it's never easy purchasing jeans without trying them on. (Please make them available in stores again.) Thanks to the customers' reviews, I made the decision to size down. I wear size 25 in Ecru, but I have to go down to size 24 in this pair. I wore them for the first time yesterday; they look very good on with a very slight stretch after a few of hours. Again, I truly appreciate other customers' reviews.

Miss the old denim material
March 7, 2017These jeans are oddly stretchy - jegging-like material. The dye transfer is also terrible.

My new favorites!
February 21, 2017These are great jeans for me because they are fitted but not too skinny. I love the fabric, cut and stretch. They do run large but nothing too serious.

Not my favorite anymore
January 24, 2017I have owned several pairs of JCrew jeans. I normally really like them. I am not a fan of the denim fabric lately. It seems thin and not flattering. I know "jeggings" are popular these days, but I still believe people want some nice heavy denim sometimes. This denim just seems to thin and shows your imperfections a little too much. I also had a problem with the zipper teeth breaking. My suggestions is JCrew needs to improve quality all around.
